In 2008, AARTPACK Interactive began an initiative to form strategic partnerships with schools in the Boston area. Our goal was to elicit feedback from educators on the ways in which they had incorporated, or wished to incorporate, technology into their lessons and teaching routines. The basic idea for "Whole Numbers, Fractions, and Decimals" came out of one of these partnerships.

This lesson was constructed with user flexibility as one of our foremost goals. Users can zoom and scroll the numberline, and choose how the figures are displayed. These options were intended to further demonstrate the relationships between mixed numbers, decimals, and improper fractions.

Additional menu options allow the user to hide the circles representing the numbers, and to play a game in which they can drag copies of the circles and quarter-circles onto the stage. Another option translates the entire activity in Spanish.
